A cognitive science approach to accelerate learning in the theoretical elements of physical education qualifications

Learning that’s easy is like writing in sand, here today and gone tomorrow.’ (Brown et al., 2014, p. 3) Make it Stick: The Science of Effective Learning explores a cognitive science (CS) approach to learning, which has shaped my understanding in this field. It has also enabled me to consider effective learning strategies within an accredited physical education (PE) environment in order for all students to succeed. To ensure that learning sticks, it has been suggested that the PE classroom should be an active environment, with learning by doing (Durden-Myers, 2021). As a PE teacher, the delivery of skills within an active practical environment has been a natural part of my teaching.
