Introduction
Engaging with research evidence holds great potential for improving educational outcomes and provision; however, considering how this can be translated and applied in classroom practice can be challenging (OECD, 2022; EEF, 2024).
This article describes the work of the Great North Maths Hub to support a community of around 40 ‘Local Leaders of Maths Education’ (LLMEs) to more confidently access, critique and apply research evidence in practice. It shares four key challenges that we encountered as LLME Community Leads and the support that we developed to address these: articulating research questions; time; accessing research evidence; and collecting data.
