This article examines the multifaceted issues surrounding professionalism in FE settings, drawing on recent research and first-hand experiences. This piece aims not only to shed light on the challenges specific to FE sport educators but also to present lessons that can be applicable to all FE practitioners. As FE institutions bridge the gap between secondary education and higher education or employment, educators face a delicate balance of expectations, responsibilities and evolving industry standards. The role of educators in FE extends beyond mere instruction, encompassing mentorship, industry liaison and the cultivation of practical skills essential for students’ future careers.
