Promoting evidence-based practice in educational technology for teachers

Lai, University of Cambridge, United Kingdom Sarah Tong, Big Bang Academy, Hong Kong Introduction After the disruptive wave of the pandemic, educators are standing at the critical junction of the future of educational technology (EdTech). In particular, witnessing the ubiquity of digital technologies giving rise to new ways of teaching and learning, it’s necessary to reflect on questions regarding effectiveness. When considering effectiveness, it is inevitable to also think about evidence— the body of literature that indicates ‘what works‘. Indeed, EdTech effectiveness and evidence should be intertwined. In this article, we suggest the importance of placing evidence-based practice as the foundation for effective digital teaching and learning – to engage teachers with research evidence in their practice.
